Construction Use Case

Kerys virtualization solution helps a construction company finding a solution that satisfies the end-user and empowers regulatory compliance.

Context: End-Users want an Alternative to VDI

A construction company search a solution to help them comply with a regulation enforcing strict isolation of specific types of data. Most solutions addressing this issue either based on VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) or multi-PC setup. However, the company's end users are reluctant to adopt any of these options as they think they do not fit the on-field constraints of the construction sector.

Using VDI requires them to be connected to the network. Its performance is highly dependent on the quality of the network. It also appears to be limited for intensive users such as construction employees who need to access heavy data related to their projects.

VDI dependency to the Internet could also increase data vulnerability. It may encourage employees to connect to unknown or unsafe networks in order to access sensitive data when they travel between sites. This is precisely the kind of situation the regulation aims to prevent.

As for the multi-workstations' setup, it simply lacks the flexibility the end users need for their work.

Yet the company is in the urge to find the solution combining strict isolation and the ability to work with restricted connectivity.

Why Kerys: The Urge of A New Approach

The company has been searching for a solution for some time. They know what’s on the market does not fit their specific needs.

But Kerys approach is different.
YS::Desktop was created by cybersecurity experts who have been on-field. They know the pain of juggling between several workstations, trading comfort and practicability for security. This is why they built a solution that meets the main cybersecurity regulations and is designed for secure frictionless user experience.

The promise of having fully separated environments on the one machine, enthused the CISO and the people who needed the solution were promptly identified. The Client could not wait to deploy the solution.

Deployment: A Tailored Solution

Some sensitive workstations were deployed using PXE implementation, while others were deployed through the central management console.

End users eventually found a solution that perfectly fits their reality. They will not endure the inconvenience of virtual desktop infrastructure.
With YS::Desktop deployment, the information is stored locally, meaning that it remains accessible even offline. This characteristic deeply facilitated user adoption among a vast array of users.

Benefits: Security and Easy User Adoption

Using Kerys’ solution has helped the company comply with regulations relating to restricted distribution. It has also contributed to limit risk associated with data handled at different sites/construction sites, while enabling secured flexibility for the end users.
